The insurance covers the losses of owners of cattle, small farm animals, racehorses, poultry, beehives, pets and other animals

Whom is the insurance designed for / Object of insurance:

Livestock Insurance is designed for natural persons and legal entities, as well as sole traders (ET), operating on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Covered under the insurance are:
  • Cattle /cattle and buffaloes / over 6 months of age;
  • Equidae /horses, donkeys / aged from 1 to 10 years, racehorses and breeding horses;
  • Small farm animals /sheep, goats / aged over 3 months;
  • Reared piglets over 20 kg, pigs for fattening, pigs for breeding;
  • Poultry;
  • Fish;
  • Rabbits;
  • Beehives;
  • Pets, exotic animals, as well as domestic, hunting, luxury, and service dogs aged from 1 to 8 years.

Subject to insurance are animals, which are clinically healthy, in good general condition, in optimal conditions for breeding, with provided quality food, prevention, and treatment, in accordance with good zootechnological and veterinary practices.

Territorial scope of coverage:

This insurance covers the liability of the insured persons for damages caused only on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Risks covered by the insurance:

The insurance covers the losses of the owners as a result of death of farm, service and domestic animals, occurring as a result of:

  • fire, in case of fire-secured sites;
  • natural disasters - storm, hurricane (whirlwind, tornado), torrential rain, hail, flood, collapse of earth and rock masses, and a stroke of lightning;
  • accidents - burning from an explosion, attack by wild animals, electric shock, accident involving a motor vehicle, fractures of bones in case of a mechanical impact and falling into a precipice while grazing, confirmed and proven by the relevant authorities or by a questionnaire.
  • infectious diseases or measures to control them, confirmed by laboratory of a veterinary institute (station);
    • anthrax, tuberculosis, brucellosis, foot-and-mouth disease, rabies, glanders, myth, black leg, plague and erysipelas;
    • pseudo-plague, marek's disease, leukemia, pasteurellosis (cholera), tuberculosis and park-diphtheria in birds. This risk is not covered for birds up to 3 months;
    • American (malignant) rot, nosematosis and acarosis for beehives;
    • viral hemorrhagic septicemia and hemorrhagic septicemia in fish;
  • non-infectious, parasitic diseases and diseases, which are not covered under item 5.4 of the General Terms and Conditions. This risk is not covered for calves and lambs up to 6 months, pigs up to 40 kg live weight, birds, pheasants, partridges, quails, useful wild game, fish, and bee colonies.

Deadline for taking out the insurance:
  • Livestock insurance is concluded year-round and is not limited by a deadline.
Deadlines for notification upon the occurrence of an insured event

In case of an insured event, notice shall be given not later than 24 hours after becoming aware thereof; the notification shall give information of the number of the insurance policy, the date, and type of the event, as well as an inventory of the ear tags of the injured animals or other identification numbers.

  • in case of manifestation of the fire risk, the Insured shall immediately notify the Regional Fire and Emergency Safety Service authority, and within 24 hours shall notify the Insurer;
Price

The insurance premium is strictly individual and is determined by agreement according to the insurance tariff by species of animals, depending on the individual risk assessment, the condition of the livestock farms or breeding places, as well as the general health of the livestock or pets.

The insurance premium can be paid as a single payment or in installments depending on the client's wish.
